With over 30 year experience we’ve setup and repaired countless guitars and amplifiers, restored dozens of classic valve amps and have been privileged to work on some incredible instruments.
These days I’m actually older than some of the ‘vintage’ equipment I work on but fortunately I still love it!
You can absolutely guarantee I’ll treat your guitar or amp with the care and respect I would if it were my own.
I specialise in Guitar & Bass Setups and Valve Amplifier repairs, servicing and modifications in Rochdale, Manchester
When levelling & dressing isn’t possible because there’s just not enough metal left to work with it’s time for a refret; either partial or complete.
This is a skilled job, best performed by experts; there’s an art to removing and replacing frets without damaging the fingerboard, especially when dealing with varnished or bound necks.
Frets are carefully removed and slots are cleaned. New frets are correctly radiuses and cut to size. Fitted, trimmed, dressed and polished.
The result is a guitar that invariably plays better can new.
Accidents happen, whether it be a dent, a crack or a broken headstock. Most things can be repaired. Show me the problem and we can discuss possibilities.
I always use top quality products and materials and pride myself on both structural integrity and finish; in many cases repairs are almost invisible.
Upgrades, modification, trem blocking, making nuts, repositioning pickups, rewiring etc.
Feel free to contact me with any enquiries.
Unbound rosewood fingerboard where nut replacement isn't required
Bound fingerboard or lacquered maple where nut replacement isn't required
Profiling is included as part of a refret, however removal of divets, humps or complete re-profiling.
All repairs cosmetic or otherwise are priced on an individual basis after viewing.
Visual inspection of cracks, holes, splits etc will be necessary in order to provide an accurate repair estimate (free of charge).
Some typical examples are:
All amplifier repairs are subject to a £40 diagnostic fee. This is the minimum charge for opening the amp, fault finding and providing an estimate.
This fee also covers the first hour of the repair; in many cases simple repairs are completed within this first hour. Subsequent hours are charged at £40/hr plus parts.
For vintage amp restorations please contact me.
All vintage amps are treated with the respect they deserve and original parts sourced where possible. Appropriate equivalent parts may be necessary but always after client consultation.
All modifications are charged individually based on the work involved. Please contact me for a free estimate.
Whether it be modifying a Tubescreamer, upgrading a speaker or altering how your amplifier sounds, all needs are considered, however I will not butcher a classic valve amp, so if you want your vintage AC30 to have 3 external pre amp valves and 12 extra knobs and switches please look elsewhere.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or enquiries.
